Skill Requirements:
  • 3+ years PHP development experience
  • Strong development skills using PHP

  • Good working knowledge of Apache web server

Computer Technician

The computer technician's role is to support and maintain in-house computer systems, desktops and peripherals. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading all hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. The appointee will also troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate manner, and provide end-user training and assistance where required .
Duties:
  • Installing, configuring and upgrading operating systems and applications (Microsoft products) and third party software specific to the departments;
  • installing and configuring computers, monitors and peripherals like printers, scanners and other hardware;
  • troubleshooting hardware, software, e-mail, the network and peripherals;
  • making recommendations on hardware and software applications in accordance with prescribed guidelines;
  • maintaining procedures for call logging, reporting and self-help guides;
  • providing technical resources to help users solve hardware or software problems;
  • performing intermittent service-desk functions (supporting staff via remote access sessions and telephonically);
  • providing one-on-one support and training to all Stellenbosch University staff
  • keeping abreast of the latest technology and tendencies;
  • accurately documenting and implementing policies;
  • taking care of the configuration, administration and documentation of the network infrastructure and components;
  • conducting training, information and presentation sessions to peers;
  • keeping abreast of the latest technological changes through self-study.
Requirements:
  • A two-year computer-related qualification OR computer-related training (e.g. A+, MCSE, MCITP, etc.);

Senior TPS Systems Engineer

Job Description:


A position exists for a Senior TPS Systems Engineer with a larger electronic security systems, burglar alarm systems and fire alarms company for residential homes and commercial businesses worldwide.
Educational Experience/Experience Requirement
  • Bachelor degree/Diploma in engineering or equivalent experience. 
  • 5 to 7 years of hands-on experience in Automation and Control Solutions in the Chemical or Oil and Gas industries with specialized long term exposure to TPS systems engineering.
  • Process control engineering specialization with a chemical or electrical engineering or technologist education is highly desired.
  • Detailed Design, and/or operations exposure would be an asset
  • Pre-commissioning and commissioning experience
  • Detailed knowledge of engineering procedures and quality assurance
  • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detailed knowledge of k the Company TPS & TDC3000 DCS Platforms including the ability to perform more complex TPS functions e.g. Volume configuration, NCF changes and CL coding. .
  • Knowledge of other Company DCS Platforms including Experion PKS, C200/C300, PlantScape would be advantageous. Experience on other DCS systems would also be considered.
